THRIVE FESTIVAL UPSTATE IN GREENVILLE, SC POSTPONED
The THRIVE Festival Upstate Leadership Team and JZEI Board of Directors regretfully announce that THRIVE Festival Upstate will be postponed indefinitely. The event was scheduled for October 4, 2008 at Fluor Field at the West End in Greenville, SC.
The grassroots process for THRIVE Festival Upstate began more than two years ago with a core group of churches desiring to engage in a new outreach festival for the region. During the process, more than 1,500 churches and ministry leaders were contacted and invited to be a part of the festival.
Several hundred pastors expressed interest in participating and a local leadership team was recruited to spread the word and network with local business leaders.
However, due to less-than-projected fundraising at this point, and limited church participation in the festival Launch Party on April 25, it has become apparent that the level of local support required to organize and deliver an event such as THRIVE Festival Upstate is still lacking. The event’s organizers believe that postponing the event is necessary in order to avoid a financial shortfall that might dishonor the Gospel.
The THRIVE Festival Upstate Leadership Team and JZEI Board of Directors apologize for any confusion and inconvenience caused by the postponement. This move comes after much prayer and the seeking of wise counsel. Communication with churches will continue to assess how and when a future date can be set.
